Farmers Market Haul

A light take today at the all-organic market, but I came home with:

Chipotle rubbed Chevre
2 ridiculously curvy zucchini
1 softball sized kohlrabi
A bunch of baby red onions
1 jar of green tomato jam
2 Lebanese spinach pies

And my favorite find: 2 huge fistfuls of garlic scapes (!!!!) I'm so excited by them I can't handle it. I have so many ideas!

Does anyone have any unique ideas for zucchini or kohlrabi? My zucchini ideas, especially, are kind of stale but at the same time it's hard to get tired of just lightly sauteed zucchini with a touch of onion and garlic.

I always bung my first few zucchini in the oven with olive oil and salt until the edges are all crunchy. Then when the tomatoes really get going, I make vats of ratatouille and don't even share. ;-)

If you've vegetables that taste like themselves, instead of styrofoam, why not let them show off? ;-9

I just found this recipe the day before yesterday: Kohlrabi Ham Bake. It calls for 4 kohlrabi, but it's good for future reference if nothing else. I'm giving it a go either tonight of tomorrow myself. :)

My kohlrabi recipes tended to involve cutting them into sticks, adding lots of lemon juice, and sauteing or stir-frying them very lightly so they stayed crunchy.

(Past tense because I can't eat citrus anymore so need to find some alternatives. But it was very good.)
