Persimmon season
Jan. 6th, 2012 05:44 amThis week I got:
a bundle of carrots
three small-to-medium beets (I gave the greens to my aunt, who will appreciate them properly, and now I have beet juice all over my hands)
5 pounds of satsumas (not so good estimating this week, though I was within about three of the mark)
about a pound and a half of persimmons (I tend to slice them up and put them in a great big jug of sweet black tea, which works even if they're slightly underripe)
some kiwis (including some double ones, which kicked off a discussion between me and my aunt that you sort of had to be there for; I was declaring that they looked vaguely anatomical, and she protested that they were much too green; all this at the top of our lungs in the parking lot).
I still have some green onions left from the not-farmers'-market run, and they and the carrots will be featuring in some orange chicken coming soon to a bowl near me.
